Eschsholtzia californica (poppy)
the Poppy grows wild throughout California. California Indians cherished the Poppy as both a source of food and for oil extracted from the plant. Thanks to Clara pointing out the Poppy's on the way home from Sequoia national park. I now notice them, and have to look everytime I see them around town. Hope you will start seeing them too!
